The Order of Danielites was established in England in 1876 as a Christian, vegetarian, teetotal, and anti-tobacco society, spun off from the Good Templars. The Danielites are rescued from obscurity in Samantha Jane Calvert, “Eden’s Diet: Christianity and Vegetarianism, 1809 to 2009” (Ph.D. dissertation, University of Birmingham, 2012).
