This June 26th in Farmingdale, New Jersey, halfway between Philadelphia and New York, Temperance Rallies will take place throughout the day from 11am to 4pm in front of the General Store of The Historic Village at Allaire.

The village, restored to its 1836 condition, holds numerous events throughout the year that represent early U.S. society.

During each tmperance rally, a large volume kept by the village is set out and opened up. During the rally anyone attending will be offered the opportunity to put their signature into the volume attesting to a pledge of total abstinence from all intoxicating beverages/substances.

Taking the pledge of total abstinence to end habitual drunkenness, has been the most common method throughout U.S. history. Scores of millions have done so, and today, there still remain good reasons for many people to do so.

The event is free, although there is a cost to park your car.
