Smokeless tobacco in major league baseball soon to become history

Contracts with the players’ union already restrict the use of chewing tobacco and snuff on the field, but local laws are what mostly likely will kill the practice soon.

One concern is the influence of players on young people.  The article provides a map that shows by state teen use of chewing tobacco and snuff in 2013.  West Virginia was the state where usage was greatest.
