Teetotalers may be proportionately more numerous in Britain today than during the heyday of the Victorian temperance movement, with a quarter of young adults under 25 now being total abstainers as well as 32% of all adults in London (which has a large Muslim population). In the United Kingdom as a whole, 21% of adults now are total abstainers.  By way of comparison, slightly more than a third of adult Americans report that they do not drink.
